An Informal Career Narrative

-

NetSource entered chapter 11 shortly after they hired me.

The company had just merged with a larger company and had expectations of making an IPO when I came aboard. My responsibility was to develop new products.

Before all hope was lost, I had developed three new products that may have turned the tide if we had had just a little more time.

Though none of these three products actually made it to market, they were nearly ready. I had systematically pushed each of them through the product development process that I designed, and all three were ready to launch.

The three products were as follows:

  1. Dial Wise. A 10XXX long distance program capable of generating much needed cash flow.
  2. Click-Call. A service that allowed our call-back customers to dial with a click of the mouse and avoid punching in the enormous strings of digits normally associated with call-back.
  3. Cell-Back. A truly innovative program that marketed call-back service specifically to cell users through cell phone dealers. The key selling point of this service is that GSM phones normally offer free incoming calls. Since call-back is "incoming" by nature, this meant that our customers would get nearly free international calls.
